Designer working on a water bottle label
Quick answer

To design a water bottle label that gets noticed, treat the 2" × 8" wrap as a front and back panel, scale your logo to at least 60% of the label height, use one dominant brand color with strong contrast, and keep details such as QR codes and sponsor logos on the back. Send vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) and our designers will build a print-ready label for free.

Key takeaways

  • From any angle a guest sees only about three inches of the label.
  • Front panel: logo and one line. Back panel: details, QR code and sponsors.
  • Go bigger than feels comfortable; small logos disappear on a bottle.
  • On ultra-clear labels, anything unprinted shows water; use white ink behind text.
  • We add the required bottler information and net contents in proofing.

A 2" × 8" wrap sounds generous until you remember it curves around a bottle. From any one angle a guest sees about three inches of it. Design for that, and your bottle reads from across the room.

1. Design one idea per panel

Treat the wrap as a front panel and a back panel. Front: logo and one line. Back: the details, a QR code, a hashtag, sponsor marks. Don't make the front panel carry everything.

2. Go bigger than feels comfortable

Logos that look right on a business card look tiny on a bottle. Scale the logo to at least 60% of the label height. If your logo has fine lines or a stacked layout, choose the horizontal lockup.

3. Pick one brand color and let it dominate

Solid color fields read from across a room. Gradients and photos print beautifully in full-color, but keep the logo on a clean area with strong contrast. Dark labels such as navy, black or forest green make light logos pop and look premium on a table.

4. Think about the water

On an ultra-clear label, anything not printed shows water. White ink is your friend for text on clear stock. On full-color, remember the bottle is round: avoid long horizontal lines that will visibly bend.

5. Make the back panel work

  • A QR code to a website, menu, photo album or lead form (at least 0.75" square)
  • A hashtag or social handle
  • Sponsor logos for events
  • A short message, such as "Thanks for visiting" or "Stay hydrated"

6. Keep type readable

Use a minimum of about 6 pt for small text and 14 pt or larger for anything people should read from a distance. Avoid thin script fonts at small sizes.

The bottler statement, net contents and any deposit text are added in our proofing step. Just leave a little room on the back panel. A free label template shows exactly where.
